This blog is about reasons why you should definitely not give up if you have not yet made any sale so far on Redbubble.Quitting is not an option because if that was the case then you would not be here in the first place. Interactions with few of my Facebook Redbubble groups members have made me realized that there are quite a number of artists out there who are in a similar situation like me.I joined Redbubble in October and it was not before January 2021 that I managed to sell three items from my inventory. It was Miffy Cotton Tote bags and a Sticker that got sold. SO let's hold hands and stay put to read through what I have gathered from my research and experience as a Designer at Redbubble.
First brush aside any doubt, negative sentiments and indecisiveness thinking its all a waste of time because like all businesses this is no different..it will take time to spread your work across all the social media platforms so it's very important to have a strong social presence whether it is the Redbubble community,Facebook,Insta handle or even your Pinterest account. I EVEN went ahead to create my own YouTube lifestyle channel and a blog website to showcase my work online.
Another thing is to consistently upload your work on the site in multiple colors apart from the usual Black and white template. You have to choose a lucrative niche area for your work like who are your target audience?
Making products with a theme for example I saw kids category was mainly less explored, also greeting cards, stickers, magnets are niches with less competition so I chose the 90s cartoon character Miffy as my theme to start with and that’s the product I sold eventually.
Your designs maybe very professional and saleable but if you fail to get organic traffic to your Store at the Redbubble site then what's the point. You make it easier for people to find you organically by posting about your works on other Google websites like Facebook and Instagram.I personally recommend artists to use good SEO tools, meaningful tags in the description box for example I had a design of Miffy The Rabbit so my tags were my store ID Luminart7,Miffy, the, rabbit, red, yellow. So using such meta description tags have helped me to get my designs on the Google search engines within a month.

Keeping a close tab on the top trending events, keywords or even slogans or festive greetings will help you understand what is popular with the people and you can design what they are looking for instead of just putting up your work up there. Don't just design..do some research and thought into the matter.I had few fellow artists sharing that their design looked great on Tshirts but did not come out that great on cups, backpacks or leggings. One thing you can do is to pre select which products are you comfortable working with your designs on and to stick to the product dimension and format specifications..You can go through the article in Redbubble about product sizes and dimensions which was a huge help for me to begin with.I am sharing a site which helps generate automated tags for Redbubble..hope it helps you fellow artists
Redbubble is a journey worth taking so I am looking forward to your experiences as well..please do share, like and comment to let everyone know what works best for them in the Redbubble Community.
Wishing you all A Rocking Year of Success and Personal Growth
